Ads in the virtual world
The cover story on Businessweekon this week is “My Virtual Life.” RIght, this is an on-line game, just like The Sims Online.
A journey into a place in cyberspace where thousands of people have imaginary lives. Some even make a good living. Big advertisers are taking notice.
A virtual world could provide real money, but, at least to me, one huge assumption should be set up first; there are plenty of people who already signed up and have create their characters in the second world. Then there is no doubt the fact that marketers, especially net advertisers, should focus on this market and target at them with right products and services. Yet, I am still skeptical about this idea. How many peole are actually going to use this service?
… at least 10 million people pay $15 and up a month to play these games, and maybe 20 million more log in once in a while.
At least 20 millions. Is this big enough for marketers to recognize the fact that this market will be serious? What do you think?
